Rumpus in the Rainforest Play: Our first grade play is right around the corner. The kids have been doing a great job learning all the songs and speaking parts if they have them, for the play. The play is scheduled for Friday June 9th at 5:00 pm in the NP3 Gym. Students need to be in the classroom by 4:30 in their costumes and already have used the bathroom. If you know you are not going to be able to make it, please let us know so that we can plan accordingly.

Homework, sight words and passwords: These will all be discussed and begin coming home in the coming weeks.
First week: This first week your kiddos have been getting use to being on a first grade schedule. The days are longer and there is no rest time! We have taken a few short breaks with heads down just to help them get adjusted.
We have worked hard on learning classroom expectations and policies and procedures that will be implemented throughout the year.
Academically, we have focused on letters, some basic addition, and our thematic unit "What's in a name" which they have done a craft and worksheet with that breaks down their name in different way.
This coming week: We will continue to focus on "What's in a Name", classroom culture, building a community and understanding class rules, choices and consequences.
We will start practicing our behavior chart so they understand what types of behaviors move them up and down. THey will start coloring the chart next week to understand how it works, but I will not really start implementing it until we have Back to School Night when I will fully explain it to you!
I look forward to another great week!
